NBA 2K24 is one of the most popular basketball video games in the world, with millions of players enjoying its realistic graphics, gameplay and features. However, there is one aspect of the game that has been criticized by many fans and media outlets: the lack of female MyPlayer characters in the online multiplayer mode called MyPark.
Why Aren’t Female MyPlayers in NBA 2K24 MyPark?
MyPark mode allows players to create their own custom characters, called MyPlayers, and compete with other players in various street basketball courts. The mode is meant to showcase the diversity and creativity of the NBA 2K community, as players can customize their MyPlayers’ appearance, skills, clothing and accessories.
However, despite the game’s claim to offer “unlimited possibilities” for MyPlayers, there is one option that is not available: playing as a woman. All MyPlayers in Park mode are male, regardless of the player’s gender or preference. This has led to many questions and complaints from fans who want to see more representation and inclusion in the game.
One of the most recent examples of this issue was a tweet by @SH00T_, a popular NBA 2K content creator and streamer, who asked: “Why Haven’t Female MyPlayers come to NBA 2K24 Park yet? Serious Question”. The tweet received thousands of likes and retweets, as well as replies from other users who shared their opinions and frustrations.
Some of the replies pointed out that NBA 2K24 already has female characters in other modes, such as MyCareer and WNBA. There are also female NPCs walking around the city. In WNBA mode, players can play as any of the 12 WNBA teams and their rosters, which feature some of the best female basketball players in the world. Why allow people to create female MyPlayer characters too?
MyPark mode is one of the most popular and fun modes in the game, and that excluding women from it is unfair in theory. They also point out that other sports video games, such as FIFA and NHL, have female characters in their online multiplayer modes, so there is no reason why NBA 2K24 can’t do the same.
Adding Female MyPlayer Character to MyPark Has Many Benefits
Adding female characters to MyPark mode would benefit NBA 2k24 in many ways. Naturally it would attract more female players and fans to the game, as well as increase the diversity and creativity of the NBA 2K community. It would make the game more realistic and authentic, as women play an important role in basketball culture and history.
We all know 2K loves when we buy that VC, and with the addition of female clothing and hairstyles, that would only increase profit even more.
Imagine playing REC mode, and you face off against a squad of all female characters. Or a REC or 3v3 mode where you can only use a female character. That would be awesome and historical for NBA 2K, and very empowering for women. Video gold for YouTubers as well. The whole ecosystem around the game would thrive.
The tweet by @SH00T_ is not the first time that fans have asked for female characters in Park mode. In fact, this issue has been raised several times before by other users, media outlets and even celebrities. However, despite these requests and promises, female characters have not been added to Park mode yet.
This has led many fans to wonder why this feature has not been implemented yet, and whether it will ever happen. Some fans have speculated that the developers are afraid of backlash, or controversy from some segments of the gaming community, or that they simply do not care about female representation or inclusion in their game.
Whatever the reason may be, it is clear that this issue is not going away anytime soon. As long as NBA 2K continues to be one of the most popular and influential basketball video games in the world, fans will continue to demand more features and options for their MyPlayers, and one of the most requested and expected features is the ability to play as a woman in MyPark mode.
