Here’s Why Arrested Russian Woman Marina Ovsyannikova May Be in Danger after a Live News Broadcast in Russia

It’s not often you see people speaking out against Vladimir Putin on Live TV in Russia. However, the Ukraine War has upset some Russians to a point where they are willing to risk their lives to speak their minds publicly. Perhaps one of the most bravest moments of protests came from a Russian woman named Marina Ovsyannikova, who is now going viral.

Who is Marina Ovsyannikova?

In Russia there is news network called Channel 1, which mostly broadcasts propaganda meant to make the country look good. Marina Ovsyannikova is an editor for the network, who ironically is very against Vladimir Putin’s actions.

In Channel 1’s most recent broadcast Marina Ovsyannikova interrupted the telecast to protest the Ukraine war in a way that could potential put her life in danger.

As you’ll see in the video below Marina Ovsyannikova is holding an Anti Ukraine War sign that says,

“No War. Stop the war! Don’t believe the propaganda! They’re lying to you here! Russians against war.”

Before the camera cut the telecast to silence her, she can be heard yelling some of the same words written on her sign. Her message was heard in every corner of the world as it went viral on social media.

Many Russians around the world share the same sentiment as Marina Ovsyannikova.

According to reports a few moments after the camera cut the live feed, Marina Ovsyannikova was arrested for interrupting the Channel 1 live news telecast to protest Vladimir Putin’s Ukraine war. It’s reported she is being charged with “discrediting Russian armed forces”. In Russia it is strictly forbidden to speak out publicly in a way disrespects Vladimir Putin, and other Russian government authorities. The consequences of such actions can allegedly be deadly.

Marina Ovsyannikova interrupting Channel 1 news in Russia marks the second time a Russian citizen has been seen publicly denouncing Vladimir Putin’s actions since the Ukraine War started. The first time something like this happened it was Russian pilot.
