Bodycam Video Shows Police Chasing a Sex Offender Through Walmart After He Allegedly Touched Privates of Two Young Women and Took Upskirt Photos
A Georgia Walmart was the scene of a disturbing incident on June 9, when a registered sex offender was caught on camera sexually harassing several female customers. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Gary Moultrie, was arrested by Suwanne police after a brief chase through the store.
What Did Gary Moultrie Allegedly Do to Two Young Female Walmart Customers?
According to the police report, Moultrie approached two young girls in the toy aisle and touched their buttocks without their consent. He then moved to the clothing section, where he used his phone to take upskirt photos of unsuspecting women. His actions were captured by the store’s security cameras, which alerted the staff.
The staff contacted the police and showed them the footage of Moultrie’s behavior. The officers quickly recognized him as a registered sex offender who had previous convictions for similar offenses. They then proceeded to search for him inside the store.
How Did Gary Moultrie Try to Trick Police and Hide Evidence?
Bodycam footage released by the police shows the officers running through the aisles, asking customers and employees if they had seen Moultrie. They eventually found him in the garden center, where he tried to evade them by pretending to look for his daughter. He told one of the officers, “my daughter is like right there, and she needs some help right now.”
However, the officer was not fooled, and chased Moultrie through the Walmart store. As he was being handcuffed, Moultrie attempted to break his phone by smashing it on the ground, presumably to destroy the evidence of his crimes. The officer managed to recover the phone, and confirmed that it contained several upskirt photos.
Moultrie was charged with sexual battery, invasion of privacy, and destruction of evidence. He was also found to be in violation of his probation conditions, which prohibited him from having contact with minors or possessing a camera device. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. Take a look at how it all unfolded on body camera video.
This is not the first time that Moultrie has been arrested for sexual misconduct at a Walmart. In 2018, he was convicted of taking upskirt photos of a woman at another Walmart in Suwanne. He was sentenced to three years of probation and required to register as a sex offender.
The police praised the Walmart staff for their quick response and cooperation in apprehending Moultrie. They also urged anyone who may have been victimized by Moultrie to come forward, and report it to them.
