What Happened at the End of Squid Games, and Why Don’t People Like It?
Okay, so if you haven’t seen Squid Games, we will try to explain what happened at the end without revealing too much, and why so many people are unhappy about it. In addition to needing to pay off vicious debt collectors, the main character Seong Gi-hun participates in the Squid Games in hopes of securing custody of his daughter by proving he has financial responsibility. The prize money from winning the Squid Games would have helped him achieve this.
While he was participating in the Squid Games, his daughter moves to America with her stepdad, which separates her from Seong Gi-Hun for over 1 year. In the last episode he was about to get on a plane to go visit her, but instead abandons his plan and purposely misses his flight to stay in South Korea with hopes of seeking vengeance on the creators of the Squid Games. Naturally people were upset Seong Gi-Hun turned down the opportunity to see his daughter after such a long time.

What Did Squid Games Director Hwang Dong-hyuk Actually Say About Lebron James?
Okay, so the quote that’s being shared on social media where the Squid Games director mentions Lebron James’ NBA Finals record is fake, but he really did respond to his criticism of the ending. In his real statement, which was made during an interview with The Guardian, Hwang Dong-hyuk dissed Lebron James’ Space Jam 2 movie saying,
“Have you seen Space Jam 2? Lebron James is cool and can say what he wants, I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series, but I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending, if he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out, and send him a message saying ‘I like your whole show, except the ending'”.
Essentially Squid Games director Hwang Dong-hyuk dissed Lebron James, but it was directed towards his Space Jam 2 movie, not his NBA finals record.
