Rajon Rondo, the basketball star who once dazzled the NBA with his skills, landed in hot water recently. The trouble began in Louisville, Kentucky, where Rondo was driving his car. He was stopped by the police for a traffic infraction. The cops smelled a pungent aroma of marijuana coming from his car, which gave them the right to search it.
What they found was shocking. They allegedly uncovered drug paraphernalia and a stash of marijuana that was within the “personal use” limit according to Kentucky law. In Kentucky, having up to 8 ounces of marijuana is deemed personal use and is a minor offense.
Rondo was arrested and slapped with misdemeanor drug and weapons charges. These charges are usually not serious, especially for first-timers. Rondo was taken to Jackson County Jail but was soon freed after paying bail. It’s not clear if there if he will be required to appear in court again.
Rajon Rondo’s ‘Glass of Gas’ Remark Trends after Marijuana Arrest
This incident was unexpected, especially in light of Rondo’s recent confession about his marijuana use during his NBA days. In a podcast hosted by Rachel Nichol, Rondo called his marijuana a “glass of gas”. He was joined by Demarcus Cousins, and the two shared their memories of their short stint in New Orleans.
For Rondo, Kentucky is almost like his hometown. That’s where he played his college ball, and now also where he got hit with drug charges. Some of the most profound moments of his life both good and bad happened in that area. Hopefully, Rajon Rondo learns from this mishap, and doesn’t face any further charges. Bringing a “glass of gas” in the car with you is never a good idea.
