Could the Nightcap show be heading the same way as Undisputed? Yeah, I know that question sounds crazy, but after the latest episode, a viral argument between Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco seems to have many convinced the energy is different between them.
Why Did Ocho-Cinco Show Up Late to Nightcap?
It all started shortly after Nebraska destroyed Colorado. Part of Nightcap’s rise to prominence was its ability to cover late-day events shortly after they happened, capitalizing on views before the topic went stale. Of course, to do that, all parties involved in the show need to show up to work on time.
Ocho Cinco wasn’t able to uphold that part of being a professional, and things went a bit left as their most recent episode started.
It began with Ochocinco explaining that he was late to Nightcap because someone’s keys got locked in a car. This person was supposed to pick him up for the airport, and they ended up waiting for a tow truck before they could leave. The alleged sequence of events caused to arrive to his hotel room behind schedule
This explanation rubbed Shannon Sharpe the wrong way because, in the past, it was alleged that Ochocinco never had people pick him up from the airport for his other TV gigs at ESPN and Inside the NFL.
What Shannon Sharpe seemed to be implying was that he felt Ochocinco wasn’t taking his Nightcap job seriously because he risked being late for his own show by having someone pick him up from the airport.
Ochocinco then began defending himself, claiming that even at his previous gigs, he would sometimes have people pick him up from the airport, and it was allegedly documented.
The conversation went even more left when Shannon Sharpe asked Ochocinco if he wanted to be “professional” or “comfortable.”
Ochocinco said he wanted to be “comfortable,” explaining that he wanted to be his true authentic self and not fall into the suit-and-tie world.
The heated argument ended with Shannon Sharpe condescendingly saying, “Let me know how that works out for you.”
Many people think this live argument could mean Nightcap might be coming to an end in the near future, at least with Ochocinco as a co-host.
Many compared it to Shannon Sharpe’s on-air argument with Skip Bayless after he disrespected his career by saying he was jealous that Tom Brady was better.
Was the argument a sign of the end, a publicity stunt, or just a small obstacle they will put behind them?
Do you think Shannon Sharpe disrespected Ochocinco by chewing him out on air like that for being late to work? On the surface it looks like there could be growing tension behind the scenes.
