With COVID-19 changing the world as we know people are finding many different ways to improvise in an effort to keep old traditions alive and well. This year creative minds created a new “Yardi Gras” tradition to replace Mardi Gras, which was cancelled for obvious reasons.
With the birth of Yardi Gras, New Orleans native decorated their houses to look like parade floats. Some people even held concerts in their own yards.
We compiled a list of the best Yardi Gras decorations people shared on social media. Be prepared to be amazed.

Walked outside to find a porch concert on my street. I love this city. Happy Mardi Gras y’all! #nola #YardiGras #MardiGras pic.twitter.com/k3aux6wVAM

Every single one of those Yardi Gras house parade float decorations are a work of art. The concert was probably the coolest improvisation though, although that dog wouldn’t stop barking. The person who left face masks out for everyone was very thoughtful, but we wouldn’t recommend taking facemasks from strangers.
It’s clear even COVID-19 can’t stop the people of New Orleans from keeping their traditions alive. Here’s to hoping next year people can celebrated normally though.
