There are many things in this world people thought would never change. One of those things was Dollar Tree selling everything in their stores for $1 or less. It was one of the few Dollar stores that actually stayed to true to its name. However, we are living in crazy times where the unexpected has become the norm, and Dollar Tree is going through a very unexpected change.
Did “Biden Inflation” aka Bidenflation Cause Dollar Tree to Stop Selling Everything for $1 or Less?
Today it was announced that Dollar Tree is no longer selling everything in their stores for $1 or less. The change will affect both their Dollar Tree Plus and legacy stores. On social media some people blame inflation for Dollar Tree breaking its sacred $1 pact. Prominent republican leaning voices have deemed this the result of “Biden inflation” aka Bidenflation.
General Reactions to Dollar Tree Not Selling Everything for $1 Anymore
In general people are not happy with Dollar Tree increasing prices. At the same time people are completely shocked by the news, because it seems so unreal. When you mix the emotions of surprise with emotions of disappointment, you get people who are very upset.
With this change there might not be anything that separates Dollar Tree from its Dollar General and Family Dollar competitors. However, in their press release they claimed that people have reacted positively to the Dollar Tree combo stores that were already testing their increased prices. That’s strange, because based on the social media reactions to Dollar Tree increasing prices most people are against the change.
When times get hard, you got to do what you got to do. For Dollar Tree that was selling things for more than a dollar. Is this proof of Bidenflation? Or is this the result of an economic trickle down effect that goes way back to when the COVID pandemic first began?
