Kendrick Perkins Saying ‘Go Ask Your Daddy’ to Austin Rivers Hating on Patrick Beverley Goes Viral
It was only a few days ago that Austin Rivers went viral for his take on Bronny James playing with LeBron in the NBA. He was accused of hating on Bronny after he said he didn’t want to see him play with LeBron, so he won’t be stuck in his shadow.
He went on to explain that he went through the same thing in the NBA, as people would often accuse Rivers of only being in the NBA, because of his dad Doc Rivers.
Now into his second career as a host on ESPN, you would think that Austin Rivers wouldn’t have to deal with “your daddy” jokes or comments. However, that all changed in hilarious fashion at the hands of Kendrick Perkins
Why Did Kendrick Perkins say ‘Go Ask Your Daddy’ to Austin Rivers
During NBA Today’s Trade Deadline Special, there was an intense debate about Patrick Beverley getting traded to the Bucks. Kendrick Perkins said that the acquisition was very important, because Pat Bev had the voice to hold Giannis accountable, especially on defense. Austin Rivers completely disagreed, and seemed to disrespect Patrick Beverley’s status as a player
Austin Rivers seemed to convey that he felt Patrick Beverley‘s team presence as a leader and voice was overrated. He said only Giannis can hold himself accountable, because only the best player of the team can be the voice and leader. Things took a hilarious turn when Kendrick Perkins responded explaining that during his NBA career he played with 13 hall of famers, and on a lot of those teams they weren’t the best player.
As a direct example he talked about his championship Celtics team that was coached by Doc Rivers. Perkins said James Posey who was a role player was the leader of the team. He finished his statement by telling Austin Rivers “go ask your daddy”.
Those four words have quickly gone viral, especially considering they came after it seemed like Austin Rivers was hating on Pat Bev. Now on social media people are accusing Rivers of letting a personal grudges from his playing days alter how he reports on certain players.
Was it appropriate for Kendrick Perkins to tell Austin Rivers ‘Go ask your daddy’ on Live TV?
