A video that combines basketball and wrestling in a hilarious way is going viral on the internet. The video, titled “When you Press Steal once in NBA 2K”, shows a recreation of what happens when a player tries to steal the ball from the opponent in the popular video game franchise.
Why Was the “When You Tap Steal Once in NBA 2K” Video Created?
Instead of a normal steal animation, the player’s character performs a WWE finishing move on the unsuspecting rival. The video features some of the most iconic wrestling moves, such as the RKO, the F5, the Tombstone Piledriver, and the Pedigree, all executed with the NBA 2K character models.
The video was likely created using a modding tool to replace the steal animations with the wrestling moves. Modding is the process of altering or modifying a video game’s original content, features, or assets by players or third-party developers.
Modding can range from small changes and tweaks to complete overhauls, and can extend the replay value and interest of the game. Some of the most popular modding sites are Steam Workshop and Nexus Mods, where players can find and download thousands of mods for hundreds of games.
Many viewers praised the video for its creativity, humor, and quality, and some even suggested that NBA 2K should add an option to enable the wrestling moves in the game.
At this point the game is so close to being a Fortnite basketball spinoff that they may as well add wrestling moves to the MyPark mode.

The over exaggerated steal animations have been part of the 2k franchise for many years now. It’s likely meant to help balance out the risk and reward factor of constantly reaching to get steals. Some people say the key is to not hold turbo while pressing the steal button, while others say the issue remains no matter what.
It’s possible that people wouldn’t complain it about so much if when you actually make a clean steal you get rewarded for that instead of your hand going through the ball. Sometimes your hand has to clip through the ball multiple times before it registers a deflection.
