The small town of Kenly North Carolina is rocked with controversy after a recent wave of massive resignations of important positions within their city government. The situation began when the entire Kenly Police force resigned. That shocking development continued with the town clerk and utilities clerk also quitting. Why Did the Entire Kenly Police Force Quit?
According to reports Kenly Police Chief Josh Gibson, along with four full time officers were the first to send letters of resignation to the Town manager Justine Jones. As the city was trying to cope with sudden loss of police officers, town clerk Sharon Evans and Utilities clerk Christy Jones also submitted letters of resignation. It appears the string of quits was related to a drastic change in the work environment for city employees.
In a viral Facebook post Kenly Police Chief Josh Gibson detailed how the the new town manager created an environment that made city employees feel uncomfortable. He revealed that he is uncertain of where the future will take him now that he his jobless, but is confident the Lord will lead him in the right direction.
Reports state that new Kenly Town manger named Justine Jones was hired on June 2, so the massive resignations came only about 2 months later. Rumor has it that Kenly city employees hate the way the new town manger micromanages people.
Without a police department there will tough times ahead for the city of Kenly in terms of fighting crime. Some reports suggest that they have hired three part time police officers who work limited hours to help curtail the massive loss of employees, but they could eventually quit as well.
It just goes to show that one simple change of staff can impact an entire city. In this case the hiring of a new town manager led to their most important positions walking out the door weeks later.
