How Jean-Pierre Adams Fell into a 39 Year Coma During Routine Surgery
On March 17, 1982 Jean-Pierre Adams was scheduled for a knee surgery at a hospital that was currently on strike. They were severely understaffed, and had one nurse attending to 8 different patients. Due to the lack of experienced nurses on hand, a trainee was tasked to supervise over Jean-Pierre Adams surgery.
The trainee gave Jean-Pierre Adams the wrong dosage of anesthetic, and intubated him incorrectly, which caused blockage in his lung area. As a result Jean-Pierre Adams fell into a 39 year coma he would never wake up from. His wife Bernadette stayed by his side until the end, that’s true love.
