Orange Cat Jorts Goes Viral After Reddit AITA for ‘Perpetuating Ethnic Stereotypes about Jorts’ Thread about Coworker Pam
Out in the business world you come across all types of coworkers in your journey of success, which makes for some great stories to be told. On Reddit there’s a cool community called “Am I the A**hole”, which consists of people telling real life stories about situations where they genuinely wanted to know if they were the idealistically wrong party in the situation. This gave birth to a legendary Reddit AITA thread about an Orange Cat name Jorts, and coworker named Pam.
Orange Cat Jorts Goes Viral After Reddit AITA Thread About Workplace Racial Insensitivity Trends
To summarize the situation an AITA Reddit member told a story about how some comments he made while making a joke about an Orange Cat named Jorts led to a coworker named Pam telling his workgroup that he made racist comments about his feline friend. In the story he named his Coworker ‘Pam’, which is a fake name in order to keep things private.
_______________
At his workplace there are two cats, one named Jean and one named Jorts. Apparently Jean is much smarter than Jorts, and is able to learn complex tricks like opening a door by the handle. On the flipside Jorts apparently has trouble doing simple things like walking in and out of rooms with doors, because he pushes the door closed either way.
In an attempt to make his cat life easier, the AITA member’s coworker named Pam took up the task of trying to do the impossible, and train Jorts to walk in and out of doors properly. It was especially important, because at times Jorts would get himself and Jean locked in a closet they both couldn’t open. Usually Jean would be the one to free Jorts after he locks himself in any other room by mistake.
With Jorts struggling to catch on to the training the ‘Am I the A**hole’ Reddit user made a joke to his coworker Pam saying,
“You can’t expect Jean’s tortoiseshell smarts from Orange cat Jorts”
At this point his coworker Pam began to cry, and left the room. Next thing he knows Pam sends an email to his workgroup accusing him of ‘perpetuating ethnic stereotypes by calling an Orange cat dumb’. In addition she set an ultimatum for her return to work allegedly stating that ‘Racial sensitivity training’ must be scheduled for their work group before she comes back to work.
What Race is AITA Reddit User’s Coworker Pam?
Perhaps one of the most surprising things about the AITA member’s story was the ethnic background of his coworker Pam. According to his story Pam is white, and doesn’t have red or ginger hair.
Pam definitely cares about people and cats of other races, that’s for sure.
Here’s a side by side picture of Jorts and Jean that the AITA reddit user posted.
The Sad Look in Orange Cat Jorts’ Eyes Sends Emotional Pain
Judging from the pictures the sad look in the orange cat Jorts’ eyes says it all. He is probably stressed from trying to learn all those tricks Pam is trying to teach him, along with locking himself inside rooms all the time. Now he’s witnessing a rift growing between two of the people that take care of him, as if things couldn’t get worse.
Prayers up for the most legendary cat of 2021, Jorts.
