People are leaving Los Angeles in the middle of night to avoid paying rent. The extra $600 from unemployment is over and jobs are scarce, so many people in Los Angeles can no longer afford rent. This has led to people fleeing Los Angeles in the middle night to avoid paying rent.
The interesting part is that these people are allegedly planning to move into the hood where rent is much cheaper. These are people that lived in fancy suburbs their whole life.

In Los Angeles the average cost of rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is around $2,000. If you move to the hood you can get a 1 bedroom apartment for less than half that price. This is leading to LA residents escaping in the middle night to get those hood apartments before someone else does.
In essence the hood may look a lot different a few months from now. Gentrification without gentrification may be the new trend.
