The news of rapper Jeezy filing for divorce from TV host Jeannie Mai after two years of marriage has sparked rumors and speculations among fans about the reason behind their split. Some are wondering if Mai cheated on Jeezy, as the couple seemed to be happy and in love just a few months ago.
Why Details of the Divorce are Fueling a Conspiracy that Jeannie Mai Cheated on Young Jeezy
Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, filed for divorce in Fulton County Superior Court on Thursday, September 15, 2023, according to court documents obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The filing states that the marriage is “irretrievably broken”, and that there is “no hope for reconciliation”. The couple has a prenuptial agreement in place, and Jeezy is seeking joint custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco.
Jeezy and Mai began dating in 2018 and got married in March 2021 at their Atlanta home, after three years of dating. They welcomed their first child together in January 2022, but did not introduce her to the public until June 2022 on Mai’s YouTube series, Hello Hunnay.
The divorce filing came as a shock to many fans, who had witnessed the couple’s romantic gestures and declarations of love on social media and in interviews.
For example in July 2022, Jeezy surprised Mai with a billboard in Los Angeles. In August 2022, Mai posted a photo of herself and Jeezy kissing on a yacht. Just a few weeks before the divorce filing, Mai shared a video of Jeezy serenading her with songs and kisses, and they looked so happy. From the outside looking in to many people, it seems like something abrupt happened.
However, some fans allege that they noticed Mai had stopped wearing her wedding ring in recent weeks, and that Jeezy had unfollowed her on Instagram, allegedly. Some also pointed out that Mai had previously said that she did not want to have children, but changed her mind after meeting Jeezy. This led some to speculate that Jeannie Mai was cheating on Jeezy, or that they had irreconcilable differences over their family plans in the long term.
Neither Jeezy nor Mai has publicly commented on the divorce or the rumors surrounding it. Representatives for both parties did not respond to requests for comment, based on most reports. The couple’s fans are hoping that they will address the situation soon, and clear up any misunderstandings. Hopefully there wasn’t any infidelity involved.
