Why are Billionaires Building Underground Bunkers in 2023? Meek Mill Fuels Conspiracy Theories

The rapper Meek Mill is known for his outspoken views on social media, but his latest tweet has sparked a wave of speculation and controversy among his fans and followers. Meek Mill reacted to the news that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta (formerly Facebook), is reportedly building a $100 million compound in Hawaii, complete with an underground bunker, an escape hatch, and blind doors.

In the viral tweet, which reignited a wave of conspiracy theories Meek Mill wrote: “If you can’t smell something coming you a d-head”.

What is Meek Mill implying with his cryptic message? Is he suggesting that Zuckerberg and other billionaires are preparing for some imminent catastrophe that the rest of us are unaware of? Is he hinting at a conspiracy theory that the ultra-rich have access to secret information and resources that give them an unfair advantage over the masses? Or is he simply expressing his disdain for the extravagant lifestyle and power of the tech mogul?

Meek Mill is not the only one who is suspicious of the billionaire bunkers. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of wealthy individuals and families investing in luxurious and fortified shelters, where they can survive any potential disaster, from nuclear war to climate change to pandemic.

According to various reports, some of the most prominent examples of these doomsday bunkers include:

  • The Oppidum, a former Soviet military facility in the Czech Republic, that is being converted into a 323,000-square-foot underground complex, with amenities such as a pool, a spa, a cinema, and a library.
  • Vivos Europa One, a former munitions depot in Germany, that offers 227,904 square feet of living space, with customisable residences that can feature a private pool, a gym, a theater, and a wine cellar.
  • Survival Condo, a former Atlas missile silo in Kansas, that has been transformed into luxury condos, with features such as stainless steel appliances, LED lighting, home automation systems, and a five-year supply of food.
  • Koolau Ranch, the aforementioned Hawaii compound of Zuckerberg, that consists of more than a dozen buildings, with 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms, a network of treehouses, and a 5,000-square-foot underground shelter with a blast-resistant door and an escape hatch.

What are Some Conspiracy Theories on Why Billionaires are Building Bunkers in 2023?

There are several viral conspiracy theory that offer theoretical explanations for the billionaire bunker phenomenon in 2023. One is that the wealthy are simply hedging their bets against the uncertainties and risks of the future, especially in a world that is facing multiple threats, such as geopolitical conflicts, environmental degradation, social unrest, cyberattacks, and bioterrorism.

Another is that the wealthy are paranoid and fearful of the consequences of their own actions and decisions, such as exploiting workers, evading taxes, manipulating markets, and influencing politics.

A third is that the wealthy are part of a secret cabal that is orchestrating a global conspiracy to create a new world order, in which they will rule over the rest of humanity as a privileged elite.

The billionaire bunkers may be a sign of the times, or a reflection of the anxieties and inequalities that plague our society. But they are also a challenge and an opportunity for us to question and confront the sources and structures of power and wealth that shape our world.

As Meek Mill said, we should smell something coming, but we should also do something about it. The question is how do you prepare for something when you don’t know what it is?
