Tom Anderson, co-founder of Myspace, sold the company to News Corp in 2005 for a reported $580 million. Myspace was a popular social networking site that was founded in 2003. At its peak, Myspace had more than 150 million users. It was eventually overtaken by Facebook, but retained a small following. Myspace was purchased by an advertising company in 2011 for $35 million, which conveys how far it’s value has dropped over the years. Since its downfall Tom Andersen has been living lowkey with his girlfriend, but now he’s back in the spotlight due to an Elon Musk Twitter situation.

This was exciting news for many, and also disappointing for many others as Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world today. It was inevitable that the purchase would have many implications for the future of social media, as Musk has a history of making bold moves.
Recently Elon Musk made one those aforementioned bold moves by allowing the public to decide his fate as CEO of Twitter. The poll asked the question of whether he should step down from his position as head of the company, and he guaranteed he would honor the results. At the moment it appears the majority seems to be voting in the direction of him finding a new CEO replacement. Many people think the writing is on the wall that Myspace’s Tom Anderson will be the new Twitter CEO. It only makes sense considering his experience running a social media platform.
