Damar Hamlin GoFundMe Raises Over $200K in 1 Hour After He Collapses on the Field

Sometimes you never really know how much people care about someone until something bad happens to them, and a massive outpouring of support ensues. The scary situation involving Bills star Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field after a possible case of cardiac arrest sent emotions of sorrow through football fans. It was a sad scene to see him laying lifelessly on the field as doctors performed life saving CPR. Fortunately, recent reports say his vital signs have returned to normal. In the midst of the nightmare evening, Damar Hamlin’s GoFundMe possibly shattered records in terms of how fast donations came in.

Damar Hamlin’s GoFundMe Raised Over $200,000 in 1 Hour After He Collapsed on the Field

Damar Hamlin possibly went into cardiac arrest after he took a hit to the chest area while tackling an opponent. He briefly stood up like nothing was wrong with him, then collapsed hitting the back of his helmet on the turf. Doctors quickly came to his aid performing CPR, and chest compressions.

With his future and health facing uncertainty the general public quickly sprang into action to help by donating to Damar Hamlin’s GoFundMe for his “Chasing M’s Foundation” community toy drive at “Kelly and Nina’s Daycare Center”. Within only 1 hour $200K in donations poured in bringing his total to over $1 million.

What makes this situation so unique is that apparently this is a GoFundMe fundraiser from back in 2020. Based on the description he was trying to help kids who were severely impacted by the pandemic to make sure they had an enjoyable Christmas to remember.

When he created it his goal was only $2500, but now due to all the recent donations after his collapse on the field, he beat that goal by about $1 Million and counting. The highest amount given was from a user named “Fan of Damar” who added $5000.

Sports really brings out the best side of people sometimes. Prayers up for Damar Hamlin.
