United States Postal Company revealed their new Hybrid Electric next gen USPS trucks and people are shocked about its fresh look. It’s not the sleek exterior that’s catching attention, rather people are reacting to the Next Gen USPS trucks looking like a Disney movie cars.
People were seen around Twitter posting memes comparing the new USPS trucks to “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” car design. Other people posted memes comparing them to Disney’s Pixar vehicle design. There were also people who thought Next Gen USPS trucks looked like Hafez al-Assad, a former president of Syria.
The new Hybrid Electric USPS trucks will be appearing in neighborhoods around 2023. The electric drivetrain version will be optional.
Brief History of the Old USPS Trucks
The old model of USPS Truck is called the Grumman LLV, which was first produced in 1989. Since then USPS has been using this same style of truck to reliably deliver mail. It’s estimated that USPS owns over 100,000 Grumman LLVs, of which many needed to be replaced. In 2009 USPS reportedly spent almost $600 Million on repairs to resolve mechanical issues they were having. It will allegedly cost USPS almost $5 Billion dollars replace all their current USPS Trucks with their new counterparts.
