He was the first sophomore player in High School history to win Gatorade National Player of the Year. However, his college career got off to a shaky start leading to him transferring from school to school before deciding to exit college altogether. Emoni Bates’ Booking Report Goes Viral After He Got Arrested On Felony Gun Charges in Michigan

According to reports from WXYZ Detroit News, police reports confirm that Emoni Bates was stopped by police in Superior Charter Township, Michigan after he did not stop for a red light at an intersection. During the traffic stop police began searching his car for an unknown reason, and found an illegal gun hidden. Police then discovered Emoni allegedly altered the ID number on the gun.

In response to the charges Emoni Bates’ legal team is claiming that he borrowed the car he was in, and didn’t know a gun was in it. Essentially they are saying the gun wasn’t his, and blaming the person who allegedly gave him the car. Take a look at Emoni Bates’ booking report.

Emoni Bates is being charged with carrying a concealed weapon, and altering identification numbers on a gun. According to Michigan lawbooks felony firearm possession can land you in prison for up to 5 years, and the fact that he allegedly tried to remove ID marks on the gun could tack on up to 2 more years. Overall it looks like he’s facing up to 7 years in prison.

Emoni Bates is currently in custody at a Michigan jail, and no details on his bail have been released. Hopefully his legal team can prove the gun wasn’t his to keep his NBA dreams alive. If that truly wasn’t his car then Emoni definitely needs to think about choosing his friends more wisely.
