Rapper Boosie Badazz aka Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, was arrested in San Diego on Saturday night for allegedly possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department records, Boosie was booked into the Vista Detention Facility around 11:30 p.m., and charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Why Was Lil Boosie in San Diego California?
Boosie, who is from Louisiana, had posted on his Instagram account earlier that day that he was in California for a show at the House of Blues in San Diego. He also shared a video of himself performing at the venue, which was part of his “Living Legend Tour”. It is unclear what led to his arrest, or if he was with anyone else at the time.
Boosie has a long history of legal troubles, dating back to 2009 when he was indicted on first-degree murder charges in connection to the death of Terry Boyd, a rival rapper. He was acquitted of the murder charge in 2012, but he still served eight years in prison for drug-related offenses. He was released in 2014 and has since been on parole.
How Much Prison Time is Lil Boosie Facing if Convicted on Felony Gun Charges in California?
If convicted of the felony gun charges in California, Boosie could face up to three years in prison for each count, according to the state penal code. California has some of the strictest gun laws in the country and prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors from owning or possessing a firearm. Boosie has not commented on his arrest. It’s not clear if he has posted bail as of Sunday morning, but he surely has the money to do so. A few days before he was arrested Lil Boosie posted a few videos of himself just hanging out in the streets of Cali.
Lil Boosie is one of the most influential figures in hip-hop. He rose to fame in the early 2000s with his gritty and authentic style of rap, reflecting his experiences of growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has released several albums and mixtapes, collaborating with artists such as Webbie, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross. He has also faced many challenges and controversies in his life, such as being diagnosed with kidney cancer, serving time in prison for drug and murder charges, and being banned from Instagram for violating its policies.
Despite these obstacles, he has remained loyal to his fans and his music, earning him respect and admiration from his peers and critics. He is widely regarded as a legend and an inspiration in the hip-hop community. Just like in the past he most likely bounce back from this situation like he always seems to do.
