The controversy started after the latest episode of Inside the NBA. Smith appeared on the show with his co-hosts Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and Candace Parker. Social media noticed that Smith’s beard had grown significantly since the previous week, as you’ll see below.
Some people on social media feel that Smith’s beard looked too dark in the area where had almost no hair just 6 days prior. They believe his beard has grown too fast, and it is unlikely that he could achieve such a result in a week.
Some fans even compared Smith’s beard to a Chia Pet, a toy that grows green sprouts when watered. They created memes and jokes that mocked Smith’s beard, and suggested that he should shave it off, or admit that he had used a spray-on product.
