Chuck is getting me too’d over his choice words.
A woman named Alexi McCammond said this on twitter, “Just FYI Charles Barkley told me tonight “I don’t hit women but if I did I would hit you,” and then when I objected to that he told me I “couldn’t take a joke.”
In the sports world there is what people call an “Off the Record Agreement”, where people at a get together will agree everything they discuss stays there. Alexi McCammond broke that agreement by telling the world Charles Barkley’s joke she found offensive. She explained her reasoning in her next tweet below.
It’s a time where people think women are being way too sensitive about simple comments. It’s clear Charles Barkley was just joking, as he says similar kind of things during his TV show “Inside the NBA”. However, in the social climate we live in now words have to be chosen carefully, because once someone makes a big deal of something small and it goes viral all hell breaks lose.
Think back to Lavar Ball being banned from ESPN for saying a statement he said many times before to Molly Qerim when she asked if he wanted to switch subjects, “Let’s switch gears”. Alexi McCammond had doubters, so she ended her rant posting a picture of Charles Barkley with her at the bar, which you can see below.
Charles Barkley has not yet responded to the claims, but surely he will soon.
