This offseason the Knicks allegedly opted not to pursue Donovan Mitchell and Dejounte Murray. Instead they seemed to be focused on Jalen Brunson, who wasn’t a bad pickup. However, so far this season both players are off to better starts individually. When Dejounte Murray walked into Madison Square Garden with that Atlanta jersey on, he put the city on notice the same way Trae Young did.
When the night began for the Knicks it seemed like it would be one of the those games where they would dominate from start to finish. They built a commanding 23 point deficit. However, Dejounte Murray would turn into superman leading his team back for the win, and putting up a career stat line of 36 points, 9 assists, and 6 steals. In the second quarter alone he dropped more than 18 points. Things got so bad that at one point a commentator said, “Knicks have another Atlanta Guard to hate now”. He was referencing the epic meltdown Knicks fans have after Trae Young destroyed their team in the playoffs.
How long will it be before we see a video where Knicks fans are dissing Dejounte Murray for crushing their hopes and dreams.
From a team standpoint both the Knicks and Hawks have almost identical records both floating around a .500 on the season.
