Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion, has a new mugshot that shows him looking like a completely different person. The mugshot, which was taken on Tuesday, after he was transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, reveals a drastic change in his appearance, more specifically his hair.
Why Tory Lanez’s Hair in His New Mugshot is Getting Roasted on Social Media
In the photo, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has his hair slicked to the side in a retro style that resembles the 70s. However, the look in his eyes is one of despair and emotional pain, as he faces the reality of his long incarceration. Lanez, 31, was convicted of three felonies including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
The shooting occurred on July 2020, after Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, attended a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s home in Hollywood Hills. According to Megan’s testimony during the trial, Lanez fired the gun at the back of her feet and shouted for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV in which they had been riding. She needed surgery to remove bullet fragments from her foot.
Lanez had maintained his innocence throughout the trial and after his conviction, claiming that he was wrongfully accused and that he had always cared for Megan as a friend. He appealed his sentence and asked to be released on bail so he could live with his son and wife while his team worked on his appeal.
However, his request was denied by Judge David Herriford on September 14, 2023, who cited Lanez’s past court order violations, violent felony conviction and non-US citizenship as reasons for his decision.
Take a look at Tory Lanez’s 70s hairstyle in his most recent mugshot that has fueled roast session like no other on social media.

Megan Thee Stallion, 28, is one of the most successful female rappers in the industry, having won three Grammy Awards and several other accolades. She has also been vocal about her experience as a survivor of gun violence, and a Black woman in the hip-hop community.
The case has sparked a lot of controversy and debate among fans and celebrities, with some supporting Lanez and others siding with Megan. The incident also raised awareness about the issue of violence against women, especially Black women, and the challenges they face in seeking justice and support.
Lanez’s new 70s hair style in his new mugshot has added another layer of shock and intrigue to the saga, as many wonder how he will cope with his prison term and what his future holds.
