Exhibit D: When Drake said “Distance between us is not like a store, this isn’t a closeable Gap, ayy”, this was taking shots at Kanye West doing a business deal with GAP clothing, and also Drake’s way of saying he has surpassed Kanye West in hip hop. Drake was letting Kanye know he will never be able to catch up. A double entendre.
Exhibit D: Drake says “Knocked the boy off and I don’t want no credit. If it was me, they wouldn’t regret it. Left me for dead and now they want to dead it, yeaa”. This was another line where Drake was telling Kanye West he took his spot in hip hop. Drake was quite directly saying he knocked Kanye West off his Hip Hop throne.
Exhibit E: When Drake says “I know they at the crib going crazy down bad, what they had didn’t last, damn baby”, he is referencing Kanye West’s interview where he admitted it drives him crazy that Kim Kardashian’s friends are going to Drake’s house down street.
We could keep going, but evidence above is enough to see that Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” is a diss track aimed at Kanye West. In an interview with Rap Radar awhile back Drake claimed “sicko mode” would be his last response to Kanye West, but it looks like that was just fallacy. “Laugh Now Cry Later” takes direct shots at Kanye again.
