Police Arrest Heartlands Hospital Nurse Worker Using Dead Patient's Debit Card at Vending Machine 17 Minutes After They Died

A Heartlands Hospital nurse is being dubbed “heartless” after an alleged heinous crime she committed against a patient she was caring for at the Birmingham location. According to West Midlands Police reports, the Heartlands Hospital Worker named Ayesha Basharat used a dead patient’s debit card 17 minutes after they died.

Security camera photos show the 23 year old nurse using the dead patient’s debit card at a vending machine to get soda, candy, and chips. The patient who owned debit card was an 83 year old woman whom had just passed away. Hospital reports say the patients death was officially recorded around 1:55pm, and the hospital worker was seen with dead patient’s debit card around 2:12 pm.

The incident above happened on January 24, but she actually kept the card with her and tried using again near the end of that month. What she didn’t know is that the card had been cancelled after the first time she used it successfully, and police were waiting for the moment she would try using it again. Police arrested her while she was working, and confirmed she still had the stolen card.

She was sentenced to 5 months in prison for theft and fraud.
